In Building and designing Digitalism’s Idealistic, I speak about the story behind the project: geodesic dome design, utopia, modernism, idealism - and also the recent destruction of utopia. In this post, I’m also referring to Miranda who then kindly send some nice comment via email (instead of commenting) and also mentionned the exhibition at the AA, entitled ‘Forms of enquiry’ which took place a little while ago and was about graphic designers and architects.
Forms of Inquiry presents architecture as seen through the practice of graphic design. The exhibition highlights work by 20 contemporary international graphic designers who were asked to contribute ‘inquiries’ into architectural subjects. These self-propelled inquiries have been developed into a myriad of media and forms. The works exhibit a common desire to reframe the circumstances surrounding graphic design practise at the start of the 21st century.

some images - glanced on the internet from the exhibition page and from the AA log.

Is it necessary to remind that Daft Punk film’s comes in a very nice package?
I can’t help but think that the myth they’re writing is huge and impressive. I very much like the music and the characters are designed to be the next Kraftwerk on a storytelling point of view. It’s very interesting to see how these things evolve and how the myth is being created.

There’s only the robot topic to relates the above daft robots and Android, but… That should have happened earlier(and it did!): Android has been running on various hardware for a little while now. Congrats guys - I can’t wait to see what this will bring!
Android is a Google project and is defined as follow from their website:
The Open Handset Alliance, a group of more than 30 technology and mobile companies, is developing Android: the first complete, open, and free mobile platform. To help developers get started developing new applications, we’re offering an early look at the Android Software Development Kit.

This display made out of balloons seems to be quite nice; it reminded me the one by Usman Haque we went to see a little while ago Martine, Amandine, Pierre and I. Amandine tagged some of her flickr picture about it.

I couldn’t help but make a mental/visual connection in between the balloons above and those two black circle:
Op Art from Dave Bollinger and the Black circle of WeAreBuild.com we use to illusrate Pierre’s writing: an article about the design and development process on the Electronest side of things.
WeAreBuild.com has been art directed and designed by Digital Club - It’s nice to see those two guys getting a certain recognition without loosing their nice and friendly attitude!

Facebook goes wide open, after much controversy on the blogosphere for a few days lately. Facebook finally decided to go open for its data model by joining Data Portability. As Tommi suggested: Electronest, too, should join www.dataportability.org! (Or maybe we should just do a teeshirt)
Data Portability statements is
to put all existing technologies and initiatives in context to create a reference design for end-to-end Data Portability. To promote that design to the developer, vendor and end-user community.
In short, this a new standard to come to organise your data. It is enforcing the principle of bootstraping I was referring to earlier in the post about the Kitsune web site design.

Two very nice product spotted via StumbleUpon:
- Nom de Guerre High Collar Coat has effectivelly a high collar; I like the simplicity and effectiveness of military cuts becoming something a bit more fancy or decorative in the design, it is more like a citation. You can find more about their products at the Nom de Guerre website.
- Gadget Furniture allows you to plug everything without the visual pain of the cables lying all around. With it’s very geometrical form it reminds me of the ‘Vader’ sofa from Jean-Marie Massaud - a sofa I liked even more since that time when Jean-Marie described it as ‘being so ugly that anyone looks beautiful in it’.
